What I really like about this video is how they captured the 1940s so well. She looked like a page out of LOOK magazine. The men in the video looked like manly men, and the women looked like curvy sex goddess. Nowadays, Justin Bieber is as manly as young men want to get. I suspect there’s a dreadful backlash coming with the Menaissance.
I haven’t seen something like that since Phil Collins did his “You Can’t Hurry Love” video, with backup singers Phil Collins and Phil Collins. Amazing how much voice can come out of such a small gal.
Funny thing about Miss Aguilera. A few years back, when her career seemed to be sliding, and Britney Spears was peaking, she commented that Britney would go off the rails, and quickly. She knew Britney well from their Mickey Mouse Club days.
She was right. She may not have peaked quite as high, but unlike Britney, she’s never put a foot wrong, never flashed her gash to the paparazzi, and has completely failed to require hospitalization for psychosis.
For years I wrote Ms. Aguillera off as just another bubble gum pop singer but she has matured into quite the talent.
I first saw this vid about a year ago and it blew me away. She’s good.
Nice vid. Tastefully done which is something I don’t expect out of most music videos these days.
My only complaint are the ADD camera takes. Augh, they had such much good video there, they could have spent a few more seconds on the take before cutting away so we could see the beauty of the scene.
I’d like to make a hat-tip to an up and coming star – Alexandra Burke. She won X Factor in Britain a year or two ago, and during the contest she did a version of Candyman too. It’s brilliant – and remember this was something like her fifth public performance.
The girl’s got guts, too. The final included a round in which the contestants had to cover a Christmas classic – the other two murdered their songs. Alex decided to sing the classic to end all classic Christmas songs – Silent Night. A cappella. And it was PERFECT.
Did this help get the nasties out of your head, then, dear? I almost regret posting that awful video (I say, snickering behind my hand).
It did, Jewel!
I like an uplifting beat with a pretty songstress dancing fine.
Made my hips swing.
That was one awful abomination you posted for a Friday night.
Well, blame Dan Riehl, not that he made me do it, mind you. But it is virally toxic, to be sure.

We need is facial hair, muscles and old spice. A man who looks like he knows what to do with a woman
I do like a solid six pack, Jewel.
Brett can bite my hiney on that one.
Oh. My. Word….Help me to not touch myself inappropriately.
There is no such thing as inappropriate self touching.
I call it a party for one!

And her voice is exquisite, Gordon.
The woman can seriously bust a note.
” never flashed her gash to the paparazzi”..
nor was it necessary, knowing these little red undies were suitable for boiling, rendering a sweeet broth.

Fast things! Wild things! Tasty things! Good things!
You answered the mail with this, Sweet Daphne. On all counts.
The vid is exceptionally well done… a respectful and beautiful hat-tip to one of our greatest eras. And it rocks, too!

And yes, great voice.

Both performances are on YouTube.
Fletcher, she’s an amazingly talented young woman, thanks for the tip.
Sorry, my memory was at fault. Silent Night was not a cappella. No fancy stuff, though – just a piano.
